Hey everyone! In prep for making a quick decision on the South Africa group trip I’ve been trying to understand Trovatrip’s cancellation policy. (A lot can happen in a year). The deposit is 25% but I’m trying to figure out if you cancel do you get 1) nothing 2) only a Trovatrip credit or 3) something else?

Thanks for any input, Troy & Aimee

I don’t know the answer to this but curious as well. I thought they weren’t releasing the information on this until May? We have so much happening at the moment wondered if I missed it?

You didn’t miss it as far as I know. We are on a train across the US and then an Alaskan Cruise late April to mid May so I was hoping to hear deets before then or after and not during – cause we’ll miss them. LOL.

I don’t know the answer either, but curious as we have never done a group trip. After the 25% down, is it like monthly payments for the remaining balance, or one lump sum? 😀

I wondered as well for the Christmas Markets. I read the cancellation policy a few time and all could get from it was a credit.

    Hi everyone! All GREAT questions.

If you have to cancel once your spot is confirmed, the 25% deposit becomes a credit towards a future trip minus a $100 cancellation fee (we are definitely planning future group trips, and you can also use it on any trip through TrovaTrip). Any amount you pay ABOVE the deposit is fully refundable up until 90 days before the trip (see attached image).

If you purchase trip insurance (which we would always recommend doing) they have separate refund policies. Generally you are entitled to a full refund of your trip minus the cost of the insurance premium. For example, if you pay $250 for trip insurance, you’d get everything back minus the $250 insurance premium.

As far as how payments work after the initial 25% deposit… that’s completely up to you! TrovaTrip will send reminder emails at certain intervals but those are just suggestions. The balance of your trip is not due until 90 days before the date of the trip.

And don’t worry! You haven’t missed the Africa launch yet. We’re still planning for that in May and you all will have first dibs before it opens to the public.

Lastly… question for you all! Our account manager at TrovaTrip has offered to join us for a live Q&A to go over some of the questions and any others you might have. Would you all find that beneficial? If so, we can get something on the calendar before the next trip goes live!
